The Neighborhood
The Baltimore Node is located at 2106 N Lovegrove Street, a quiet, tucked‑away block just off North Avenue. Our neighborhood blends residential character with pockets of creativity, small businesses, and community-focused organizations. It’s a place where makers, artists, and curious newcomers can feel at home.
Our space sits near the edge of the Old Goucher and Charles North areas — both known for their mix of historic architecture, independent shops, and grassroots arts activity. Within a short walk, you’ll find:
- Open Works is a major community fabrication space offering classes, coworking, fabrication labs, and youth programming. Open Works is one of Baltimore’s largest maker hubs and a natural collaborator for Node members.
- Baltimore Bicycle Works is a community‑oriented bike shop focused on repairs, parts, and supporting everyday riders. They’re a great resource for members working on bike‑related projects or just trying to keep their ride in good shape.
- Velocipede Bike Project is volunteer‑run, collectively operated bicycle workspace dedicated to teaching bike repair and providing access to tools. Velocipede emphasizes empowerment, education, and DIY bike maintenance — very aligned with the Node’s ethos.
- The Station North Tool Library is like a library, but with tools instead of books. Tool Library members are able to check out tools from among their large library for whatever projects they want to do.
- The Baltimore Design School, located in the historic Lebow Clothing Factory, is Baltimore’s new middle/high school focusing in fashion design, architecture.
- Second Empire Furniture is a full-service woodworking shop. Cabinetmakers Stephen Alexander and Robert Frey practice their craft on the floor above the Node
- AREA 405 is full of artists’ work spaces and hosts a wide variety of events.
- The Copycat Building is one of Baltimore’s best-known landmarks and serves as homes and studios for a large segment of Baltimore’s art community.
